Dr. Jesus V. Tamesis

Biography

In 1958, a visionary named Dr. Jesus V. Tamesis Sr., together with his wife, Dr. Teofila Tamesis, OD, established one of the first full-service ophthalmic clinic in the Philippines. Dr. Tamesis provided for his patients a one-stop shop of eye care services complete with ophthalmic and ENT diagnostic equipment, minor room, pharmacy, and optical shop. The fully centralized air conditioned clinic made sure his patients were in total comfort. These were eye clinic features almost unheard of during that time. Dr. Teofila Tamesis later opened one of the first optical lens business in the country, also within the clinic. Originally called Precision Optical, it later became Plastilens International. It provided one of the first plastic prescription lenses from France.
