De Los Reyes, Mariquit M.
De La Salle University
Dr. Mariquit DeLos Reyes is an associate professor of Biology at De La Salle University – Manila and De La Salle University-Science and Technology Complex. She received her PhD in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, USA, and her MS and BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. She has done works on the development of culture strategies using bioreactors to study how protein expression can be optimized in recombinant microbial and mammalian cells cultivated in three-dimensional culture systems. She served as a visiting researcher at the School of Chemical Engineering, Cornell University, New York, USA. She was also a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) visiting researcher at the Chemical Engineering Department, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. She is a recipient of the Most Outstanding Teacher Award from De La Salle Canlubang. She was the Director of the School of Arts and Sciences, De La Salle Canlubang from 2009 to 2011 and was the Coordinator of the Br. Alfred Shields FSC Marine Station, De La Salle University from 2014 to 2016. Currently, she does work on natural products and drug discovery, specifically on the use of secondary metabolites with potential bioactive properties against cancer cells. Occasionally, she also volunteers in the Children’s Ministry at Christ’s Commission Fellowship (CCF), Alabang. She collects stamps and coins, and enjoys bonding with her teenage daughter during her free time.
