Oreta, Andres Winston C.

Biography

  Andres Winston C. Oreta is a professor in civil engineering at De La Salle University, Manila. He graduated D. Eng. and M. Eng. in Civil Engineering at Nagoya University, Japan and BSCE at the University of the Philippines. His field of study at Nagoya University is System Identification of Structures using the Extended Kalman Filter. Dr. Oreta has published papers on applied computing in structural engineering using Kalman Filter and neural networks in the ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering, JSCE Journals, Proceedings of JCI, Engineering Structures and Computers and Concrete. Dr. Oreta also has interest in Engineering Education, Outcomes-Baed Education and Scholarship on Teaching and Learning (SOTL) and has published papers in Computer Applications in Engineering Education and the ASCE Journal on Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice. His present interest is on disaster risk reduction and heritage preservation. He published online guidance notes for UNISDR on the One Million Safe Schools & Hospitals Campaign. Dr. Oreta has presented papers in various international conferences such EASEC, CECAR, IABSE, ACEE, PCEE, JSPS and AUN/SEED-Net and also at national & university conferences organized by the Association of Structural Engineers of the Philippines (ASEP), PICE, PATE, ERDT and DLSU.   Andres Winston C.
