Biography
Dr. Cecilia P. Reyes is an experienced educator, researcher, and administrator. She is creative with strong leadership, networking, and mentoring skills. Her professional working experience has been focused on insect systematics and ecology, and crop protection. She obtained her PhD degree in Entomology from the University of Alberta, Canada, MSc degree in Entomology minor Plant Pathology/Mycology from the University of the Philippines Los Banos, and BSc degree in Agriculture major Entomology from the University of Southern Mindanao. She underwent trainings from SEAMEO-Tropical Biology, Indonesia, McGill University-MacDonald, Canada, PhilRice; National Institute of Health and Epidemiology, Vietnam; University of Florida, and Walter Reed Biosystematics Unit, Smithsonian Institution, USA. Dr. Reyes has authored 40 scientific articles and books. She discovered and named new 9 genera and 42 species of insects. She was a recipient of scholarships, grants and awards including Outstanding Research Award, DOST, Outstanding Young Scientist Award, NAST; Fulbright-Philippine Agriculture Scholarship for Advance Research. and grants from WHO and IDRC. She is a member of professional and civic organizations including the Philippine-American Academy of Science and Engineering, Society for Conservation Biology, Philippine Academy of Young Scientists, National Research Council of Philippines, Soroptimist International of Sampaloc, and Rotary Club of Hiyas ng Maynila.
