Biography
"Prakash joined IRRI in May 2015 as an agricultural economist and currently leads the social science activities in India. His team is involved in rice varietal tracking and identification, adoption and impact assessment of stress-tolerant varieties, and business model development for service delivery in rice farming systems. Prakash is also involved in bilateral projects such as the Rice Monitoring System in South Asia (RMS-SA), Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA), and Stress-Tolerant Rice for Africa and South Asia (STRASA). Before joining IRRI, he worked at Global Food group at the University of Göttingen, Germany, where his primary focus was on analysing producer preferences and impact assessment of modern market value chains. The analyses involved preference heterogeneity for certification standards among small producers and vegetable suppliers of supermarkets. Recent research works in IRRI centered on seed system, rural entrepreneurship development for service economy, youth in agriculture, and varietal adoption and technology impact assessment."
