Biography
Adam McLelland is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in London. With more than 18 years of experience, he specializes in providing financial advisory and due diligence services to private equity sponsors and corporate clients. Mr. McLelland has developed a particular expertise in critically evaluating a company's key financial and operational business drivers, the quality and sustainability of forecast earnings and cash flows, and potential changes in a company's working capital and funding requirements. He has worked on assignments throughout Europe and in the U.S., notably serving clients in the industrial, consumer goods, packaging and leisure sectors. Since joining A&M, Mr. McLelland has led due diligence teams on behalf of a number of private equity firms, including Equistone (Whitworths), Aurora Capital (Pyrex), The Gores Group (Hovis), Montagu (The College of Law), CBPE (Xafinity Consulting), HIG Capital (ARMetallizing), BlueGem Capital (Enotria), Vision Capital (Vitopel) and Advent International (Xafinity), as well as Lion Capital, Darwin Private Equity, Duke Street Private Equity, Corinthian Capital and Proprium Capital Partners. Before A&M, he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London and New York, advising private equity clients such as Blackstone, Industri Kapital, Doughty Hanson, Apollo and BC Partners, and corporate clients such as Cadbury plc, Mars Inc., Anglo American plc and McCormick Inc. Engagement experience includes: Lion Capital's £1 billion+ acquisition of FoodVest Ltd. from CapVest, the demerger of Anglo American's paper and packaging business Mondi plc, and the acquisition of Cadbury Schweppes European Beverage business by Blackstone and Lion Capital for £1.3 billon. Additionally, he advised the Blackstone's Real Estate Funds team on the acquisition of hotel portfolios across Europe. He also prepared vendor due diligence reports aimed at PE and corporate buyers such as (inter alia) Industri Kapital's Sydsvenska Kemi and Dynea Oy chemical / resins businesses, Cadbury's Monkhill confectionary business, Langholm Capital's Dorset Cereals, Mondi's Aylesford Newsprint, and the privately owned businesses Linpac and Foxtons. Mr. McLelland earned a bachelor's degree in history from Exeter University. Prior to that, he served as an officer in HM Forces for four years after graduating from RMA Sandhurst. A U.K. national, he is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
