Andrew Khoo

Biography

Andrew Khoo is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Turnaround and Restructuring practice in San Francisco, specializing in business diagnostics, plan development, cash flow forecasting, liquidity management and financial strategies for corporate turnarounds and restructuring. With more than 18 years of leveraged finance, management consulting and restructuring experience, Mr. Khoo has advised numerous companies on their business and financial strategies. At A&M, Mr. Khoo has been involved with projects across a wide variety of industries including: the successful restructuring of over US$1 billion of debt for a home builder and commercial property developer; acting as financial adviser to a distributor of accessories for consumer electronics, leading to an eventual sale of the business; the evaluation of a financial institution’s exposure to its mortgage and mortgage-backed security portfolio; identifying operational efficiency improvements for a grocer’s perishables area. He has also completed several acquisition due diligence assignments for private equity investors. Mr. Khoo also worked with A&M’s European restructuring practice, leading the project management office for the restructuring of a slaughterhouse in the Netherlands and as interim cash manager for a fruits and vegetable distributor in the Netherlands. Before joining A&M, Mr. Khoo consulted independently to clients including a large commercial chemical company on SKU, formula and packaging rationalisation and a contract electronics manufacturer evaluating potential merger synergies. He also spent more than two years as a corporate strategy consultant with Bain & Company in San Francisco, where he specialised in enterprise software, semiconductors and IT security. Previously, Mr. Khoo spent three years with Bankers Trust’s Toronto office as an Associate, focusing on high-yield debt and leveraged finance transactions for the pulp and paper and steel industries. He also spent two years as a Vice President with Parklea Capital, a mid-market financial advisory firm, in Toronto. Mr. Khoo earned a bachelor’s degree in applied science and engineering (engineering science) from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business.
