Biography
Andrey Nesterenko is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal in Moscow. He has more than 10 years of hands-on experience in complex mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and corporate finance transactions across the banking, telecommunications, metals and mining, and diversified private conglomerate industries. Mr. Nesterenko specializes in restructuring, corporate, financial and tax planning; complex M&A and post-merger integration; squeeze-outs of minority shareholders; balance sheet and assets-liability management; and control and management of regulatory financial ratios in the banking sector. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Nesterenko led the financial consulting department of Promsvyazbank PJSC and served as the Chief Executive Officer of PromSvyazInvestment, LLC, a special purpose unit in charge of off-balance sheet management of Promsvyazbank assets and liabilities, especially those relating to distressed debt. As CEO, he managed more than 70 people and 300 companies in over 10 jurisdictions, including all legal, financial, capital control and operational aspects. Prior to that, Mr. Nesterenko served as the head of the strategic projects department in VTB, leading the acquisition and post-merger integration of the 9th largest commercial bank in Russia by VTB Group. He also worked for the Renova group of companies, where he led the M&A legal department, which spearheaded all M&A and capital market activities. Mr. Nesterenko earned a bachelor’s degree in law from Rostov State University, a master’s degree in law (LL.M.) from Cambridge University with a specialization in international commercial law, and an MBA from INSEAD (France, Singapore). He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a CFA designation from the CFA Institute. A Russian national, Mr. Nesterenko is fluent in English and has a working knowledge of French​.
