Brendan Joyce

Biography

Brendan Joyce is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s North American restructuring practice and is based in Detroit. He has extensive experience providing financial advisory services and solutions to companies and creditors across numerous industries, including aerospace, automotive and transportation, distribution, food and beverage, general manufacturing, marketing and advertising and steel. Mr. Joyce’s experience includes business plan and liquidity forecast development and assessments; developing financial models to support business decision-making; participating in customer, vendor and labor negotiations and developing accommodation agreements; performing due diligence; conducting part profitability analyses; evaluating manufacturing footprints; liquidity and treasury management; identifying cost reductions and profit / working capital enhancements; developing and implementing turnaround plans; M&A activities; interim management activities and restructuring / bankruptcy-related services. Most recently, Mr. Joyce provided advisory services to and was part of the management team of a $1 billion+ automotive supplier that successfully restructured $500 million+ of debt and had successful negotiations with its customer base to achieve pricing adjustments, long term business commitments and other commercial terms. Mr. Joyce’s prior experience includes turnaround and refinancing activities for a manufacturer in the food and beverage industry and advisory services to a lender related to a successful sale of a business in the consumer goods industry. Project awards where Mr. Joyce’s engagements have been recognized include the Turnaround of the Year (Mega Company) in 2015 for a large automotive supplier from the Turnaround Management Association and Chapter 11 Reorganization Deal of the Year (Small Mid-Markets) in 2013 for an aerospace company from the Turnaround Atlas Awards. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Joyce was a Managing Director at FTI Consulting, Inc. in the Corporate Finance & Restructuring practice. Previous experience includes numerous functions and positions with increasing responsibility in the automotive industry, working for a $1 billion plastics and injection molding company as well as a $17 billion manufacturing company. Mr. Joyce earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and two master’s degrees from Wayne State University, one in economics and the other in business administration. Mr. Joyce is a Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor (CIRA) and a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the Detroit Economic Club.
