Cynthia Joiner

Biography

Cyndi Joiner is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in Atlanta, focusing on strategic sourcing, business process outsourcing, organizational design, professional competencies, business transformation and third-party governance models. With more than 15 years of operational and consulting experience, Ms. Joiner has designed and implemented centralized strategic sourcing organizations by fundamentally changing methods and processes for acquiring goods and services. Most recently, she assisted a Canadian-based company in launching an eMarketplace offering. Ms. Joiner has established and led cross-functional teams focused on developing supplier negotiation strategies, business process outsourcing and best practices in supplier performance management, resulting in more than $350 million in savings. She orchestrated the development of a corporate supplier governance model that minimized risk and improved operating standards. Before joining A&M, Ms. Joiner was a Director with Huron Consulting, where she developed staff competencies, demand management and supplier consolidation strategies for the financial services, healthcare, higher education and retail industries. Earlier, she held executive procurement and strategic sourcing positions with such companies as GMAC Residential and Wachovia Corp. (formerly First Union). In her GMAC role, Ms. Joiner developed the strategy to centralize all business processes and sourcing activities for procurement, corporate real estate, facilities and disaster recovery for GMAC Mortgage, GMAC Real Estate, GMAC Bank, GMAC Global Relocation Services and diTech.com, resulting in cost savings of more than $150 million. Ms. Joiner earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Lee University, a master's degree in business administration from Pfeiffer University and completed the School of Negotiations at Harvard University. She was recently named Lee University’s Distinguished Alumnus of the Year and featured in "The Chattanoogan."
