Gary Jacobs

Biography

Gary Jacobs is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Private Equity Performance Improvement practice in New York. He specializes in working with private equity clients on mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs and divestitures. He conducts due diligence to identify the benefits, risks and opportunities in transactions, as well as directing post-merger integration and divestiture activities to secure the benefits, mitigate the risks and seize the opportunities initially identified. With more than 20 years of accounting, operations, information technology and consulting experience, Mr. Jacobs has established a successful track record of serving companies in the media, services, consumer goods, pharmaceutical and industrial manufacturing industries. His representative engagements include: leading the IT carve-out and divestiture of a $300 million distribution division of Take-Two Interactive Software; leading the post-merger integration of Sirius and XM’s financial operations and reporting systems, realizing $100 million in annual EBITDA improvement from the merger synergies; and providing purchase accounting due diligence for the acquisition of PamAmSat by News Corp. and private equity firms led by KKR. In addition, Mr. Jacobs led the post-merger integration of Intelsat and PanAmSat’s accounting operations and reporting systems, resulting in $2.5 million in one-time and $250,000 in annual operations and tax savings; designing and implementing a shared services center to handle back-office operations for five LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetics companies, and leading the post-acquisition integration of six additional cosmetics brands, totaling more than $200 million, into the shared services center; and he led the global enterprise process and ERP systems implementation and subsequent system roll-outs for the Network Power division of Emerson Electric. Mr. Jacobs also assumed interim VP Finance and CIO positions to lead the post-acquisition integration of three $100 million watch companies into one $300 million legal and operating entity, currently known as Geneva Watch Company. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Jacobs spent 14 years in senior consulting positions, most recently as founder and managing director of his own consulting practice, and previously as a senior manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Before that, he was a corporate controller and chief financial officer with several middle market manufacturing, media and information services companies. Mr. Jacobs earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting from the State University of New York and an MBA from Adelphi University. He also studied electrical engineering at the University of Massachusetts and digital media strategy at New York University.
