Biography
Greg Chastain is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Real Estate Advisory Services in Atlanta, specializing in corporate finance and real estate transactions. His primary areas of concentration include portfolio evaluation and restructuring, asset sales, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, securitization and litigation support.With over 18 years of real estate and capital markets experience, Mr. Chastain has advised real estate investment trusts (REITs), investment and commercial banks, private equity and opportunity funds, insurance companies, pension funds and pension fund advisers, and government agencies on real estate equity and debt matters in excess of $100 billion.Recent notable projects include: the Lehman Brothers Holdings’ bankruptcy; restructuring related to a warehouse line secured by retail developments (from lifestyle centers to grocery anchored shopping centers); the sale of St. Vincent’s Midtown Hospital; portfolio analysis of a $500 million warehouse line secured by scratch-and-dent residential and commercial mortgages; and advisory services related to the restructuring of significant debt issuances for a multi-billion dollar real estate acquisition and development firm. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Chastain spent nine years in the real estate financial advisory services group of Deloitte & Touche, where he was most recently a senior manager. While at Deloitte, he worked in Atlanta and New York, managing engagements that included the sale of performing and non-performing commercial real estate loan portfolios in Japan and the U.S., securitization underwriting and acquisition due diligence of all property types and valuation consulting for equity and debt portfolios.Mr. Chastain earned a bachelor's degree in English from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS and a juris doctor from the University of Texas, School of Law.
