Biography

Gregory Larm is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Financial Industry Regulatory Advisory Services in Houston. He specializes in advising banks on a broad range of financial and supervisory issues. His primary area of concentration focuses on commercial credit, credit risk management and issues involving credit policy. Mr. Larm possesses a long tenure of bank regulatory experience and has served in various regulatory capacities in large, midsize and community banks throughout the country. He has also held supervisory oversight positions responsible for recommending, drafting and implementing industry-wide policy. He has served as examiner-in-charge of numerous troubled banks, led shared national credit examinations in the largest banks, and served as credit team leader in large and midsize banks. Mr. Larm was the lead expert for examiners involving all types of commercial lending, most recently dominated by commercial real estate and leveraged finance. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Larm spent 36 years with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). He most recently served as the Credit Lead Expert for the OCC’s Large Bank Supervision division and the Commercial Credit Technical Expert for the Office of the Chief National Bank Examiner, both headquartered in Washington, D.C. In these roles, Mr. Larm routinely provided advice to senior OCC management and examined staff on areas of significant credit risk within the national banking system. As part of his duties at the OCC, he developed examination guidance on commercial lending activities and led efforts to create the Comptroller’s Handbook for National Bank Examiners on Leveraged Lending. He also provided ongoing guidance related to the Comptroller’s Handbooks on Accounts Receivable and Inventory Financing, Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses, and Commercial Real Estate Lending. Mr. Larm was a member of the agency’s National Commercial Credit Committee, led the Large Bank division’s commercial credit network group and served as a frequent instructor of credit-related training.
