Biography

Ilan E. Marcoschamer is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Real Estate Advisory Services. With over 20 years of experience in operations, financial advisory and investment management, Mr. Marcoschamer advises clients on hospitality consumer trends, market fundamentals, industry best practices, development and financial management. Mr. Marcoschamer is responsible for the Miami practice of A&M’s Hospitality & Leisure Group, servicing clients primarily in the Caribbean and Latin America. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Marcoschamer was a Managing Director at Glacier Global Partners, a boutique real estate advisory and merchant banking firm, and simultaneously a collaborative member of Soulity Inc., a network of hospitality industry and creative professionals, in which he retains a seat on its board of directors. Mr. Marcoschamer was also previously a Manager of the Hospitality & Leisure Advisory practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Miami. While at PwC, Mr. Marcoschamer specialized in hospitality finance and development with a focus on the Latin America and Caribbean markets. He led due diligence efforts in major hospitality transactions, spearheaded resort master planning exercises, formulated regional development / investment plans and provided industry knowledge and expertise in litigation cases. His portfolio of clients ranged from major hotel companies such as Starwood Hotels and Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company and Hyatt International to institutional investors and private equity firms including Goldman Sachs, Banco Sabadell, Lubert Adler Management, Caribbean Property Group, Brilla Group and Carlyle Group. He also worked with private ownership and development groups such as Urgo Hotels, The Kor Group and Stewart Investment Company; law firms such as Bickel and Brewer and Goodwin Procter; and government agencies such as the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, the U.S. National Park Service and the Government of the Republic of Montenegro. Mr. Marcoschamer began his career in hospitality with staff and managerial positions at the Executive Conference Center at Sheraton Boston Hotel and Towers. Mr. Marcoschamer earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brandeis University and a master’s degree in hospitality from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Hebrew.
