Jacques Duplantis

Biography

Jacques Duplantis is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal in Houston. He specializes in Upstream Oil and Gas operations. His primary areas of concentration are Merger and Acquisition Support, Strategy and Operations Management, Lean Performance Improvement, and Portfolio Management. With more than 18 years of Energy experience, Mr. Duplantis has worked both in industry as a Research and Development Engineer for a major Oilfield Services company and also in operational management consulting for both Oilfield Services and Exploration and Production companies.  He has led due-diligence and integration efforts for carve-out and acquisition transactions ranging from $200MM to $35B. Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, Mr. Duplantis spent 13 years with a major global consulting firm, where he served as a Senior Manager in their Energy Management Consulting practice and led the U.S. Energy Community of Practice. Mr. Duplantis’ notable assignments include: E&P Carve-Out and Newco Standup – Led the PMO for a $1B carve-out of E&P assets from a North American independent operator; directed efforts of a 50+ person team to establish all aspects of a new company to operate and continue development of the assets Supermajor Drilling and Production Operations Excellence – Led post-merger integration efforts to develop a global organization and establish standard operating practices and performance improvement programs across worldwide drilling and production operations Major Oilfield Services Post-Merger Business Improvement – Led post-merger performance improvement efforts for field service operations, equipment maintenance functions, sales functions and back-office functions to integrate multiple product service lines in a global oilfield services provider E&P Carve-Out /Acquisition – Led efforts to develop a strategy and stand up functions for drilling, production and land for a $5B acquisition of U.S. assets by a global mining company Oilfield Services Carve-Out/Acquisition  – Led team through operational due diligence and integration activities for an acquisition which doubled the size of large compression services company; focus areas were HR, IT, and field ops Deepwater Portfolio Strategy and Management – Led development of a portfolio management strategy and stage-gated process for research and development of critical oilfield technologies across all engineering disciplines for a multi-billion dollar portfolio Private Equity Energy Carve-Out/Acquisition– Led diligence efforts and development of an operating company for a $1.5B private equity carve-out/acquisition of 25 electric generation plants. Mr. Duplantis earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Louisiana State University.  He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, a past president of the LSU Houston Alumni Board and has been actively involved with various advisory committees with LSU and the LSU College of Engineering.
