Jagdip Bharij

Biography

Jagdip Bharij is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand UK LLP in London. He brings over 20 years of experience in corporate and international tax. He works with multinational companies active across the U.K., Europe, the U.S., Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Bharij has assisted clients ranging from entrepreneurial privately held companies, and private equity investments to businesses in the FTSE 250, across a wide range of industries including technology, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, mining, utilities and energy. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Bharij worked at Ernst & Young in the U.K. for nine years, and prior to that with PwC in Kenya for four years. During his time at Ernst & Young and PwC, he was involved in and led a number of large projects to include tax audits, tax reporting for multinational groups under U.K. GAAP, U.S. GAAP and IFRS, tax structuring and due diligence for acquisitions, vendor due diligence for disposals, tax work relating to IPOs and general corporate tax advice relating to restructuring, reorganisations including demergers, investment and repatriation of profits.   Mr. Bharij’s notable assignments include leading and coordinating  a U.S. GAAP tax reporting project for a large U.S. based manufacturing group with operations in over 40 countries, tax advice on the sale of a significant business segment of a major utility company with a deal value of £2.5 billion, tax due diligence and reporting on three major multinational mining companies listed on the FTSE 100, advising on a reorganisation of a large private equity backed manufacturing group and vendor due diligence of a large power generation company operating the world’s largest combined heat and power plant. He has also led a team in performing SOx 404 work for a major multinational oil and gas company. Mr. Bharij is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA), a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ACA). He is a U.K. national.
