Jay Burkett

Biography

Jay Burkett is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Healthcare Industry Group in Washington D.C. He brings extensive operational finance, performance improvement and restructuring experience, and has worked with a wide spectrum of entities and stakeholders across the healthcare industry. His primary areas of focus include integrated health systems, academic medical centers, acute care hospitals, multi-location healthcare providers and healthcare service organizations. With more than 27 years of healthcare expertise, Mr. Burkett has served as permanent and interim Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) for a variety of organizations and has served as the interim Vice President of Revenue Cycle for two large academic medical centers. Mr. Burkett has significant experience and interactions with investment bankers, external counsel, syndicated and non-syndicated preferred equity and debt offerings, investor and creditor communications, organizational structure rationalization and Federal Trade Commission Hart-Scott-Rodino Anti-trust review. Mr. Burkett has served as a business and financial advisor to several private equity and related entities’ management teams. As a business and financial advisor, Mr. Burkett has served numerous clients with large transformational consulting engagements. Mr. Burkett has assisted clients with complex revenue cycle performance improvement implementations, buy and sell side financial and accounting due diligence, cost reduction identification and implementation, developed prospective financial models to assist with acquisition and large expansion projects, and hospital and physician practice electronic medical record implementations. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Burkett was the Chief Financial Officer of Rural Metro Corporation during the period of bankruptcy emergence through sale of the company to a strategic buyer. Prior to that, Mr. Burkett was a co-founding partner of Grant Thornton's Healthcare consulting practice. He was also a partner at Ernst & Young, where he was the national leader of the revenue cycle and financial management practice. In addition to his executive and consulting experience, Mr. Burkett has 12 years of healthcare audit experience with another Big Four firm.Mr. Burkett earned a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from Butler University. He is a Certified Public Accounting (CPA) in Indiana, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Indiana Society of Certified Public Accountants.
