John Cipriano

Biography

John Cipriano is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Financial Industry Advisory Services. He is an accomplished executive offering more than 25 years of management experience within financial institutions. His core competencies include risk mitigation, development of policies and procedures, residential  and consumer mortgage underwriting and credit policy, portfolio management, and profit and loss responsibilities for banks and non-banks. He brings a tangible skill set that can be leveraged by startup organizations and growing and mature companies.Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Cipriano started his career at Norwest, where he gained experience in regulatory compliance and sales management by working within a local branch network. He parlayed this position to work for one of the leading independent mortgage bankers in the United States. Within two years, Mr. Cipriano rose to a senior management position within the organization by fostering an environment that was based on sound quality control and lending practices. After the organization was sold to Barnett Bank, he initiated and executed a plan to launch a de novo startup mortgage banker. He successfully sold the platform to a larger entity in 2003.After relocating to Dallas in 2005, Mr. Cipriano worked for IndyMac bank and was in charge of operations and sales for the Midwest region, overseeing more than 400 employees. He successfully guided a warehouse lending, correspondent and wholesale platform. He was responsible for all quality control for new originations, management of sales and operations inclusive of profitability for the business center.Most recently, Mr. Cipriano led successful engagements as an independent consultant, working with a top four residential mortgage servicer, developing a warehouse lending platform for a community wholesale savings bank, and working as the lead consultant for a foreclosure review consent order project at a major money center bank. He also oversaw state and federal exams for a top five servicer / bank, and assisted financial intuitions with process improvements, developing and assisting in remediation efforts, and to prepare for regulatory exams. Mr. Cipriano earned a bachelor's degree in banking and finance from Middle Tennessee State University. In addition, he is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on financial institution risks, consumer compliance and customer service.
