Biography
Jonathan Hickman is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal in Charlotte and serves as co-head of the firm's North American Commercial Restructuring practice for the Southern Region. He specializes in advising companies and senior lenders in both distressed and non-distressed situations. His areas of concentration include: treasury and liquidity management, operational restructuring, bankruptcy filing preparation, and the development and evaluation of strategic business plans. With more than 20 years of management and corporate restructuring experience, he has advised numerous clients in both financial advisory and interim management roles, including acting as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Restructuring Officer (CRO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO). He has worked with clients across a wide range of industries, including distribution, oilfield services, manufacturing, coal, financial services and construction. Some of his notable assignments have included: Seventy Seven Energy, Allens, The Merit Group, Fairchild Dornier GmbH, Exodus Communications, Iusacell, J.A. Jones and SIRVA. Mr. Hickman most recently served as Financial Advisor to Seventy Seven Energy, assisting this oilfield services provider through a successful pre-packaged Chapter 11 process. He served as CEO of Piney Woods Resources, a producer of metallurgical and thermal coal in Alabama; as CRO of Allens, Inc., leading this food manufacturer through a Chapter 11 process; and as CRO of a leading provider of warranty administration services. Prior to joining A&M, he served as Director of the Petroleum Services Group at Ten Hoeve Bros. Corp., the largest retail petroleum equipment distributor in the U.S. As Director of the Services division, he was responsible for developing the division's business plan, implementing financial controls and overseeing 11 service locations. Mr. Hickman earned a bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University. He is a member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and serves on the Board of the Carolinas Chapter of the TMA and on the Board of Directors of the Central Piedmont Community College Foundation.
