Karen Engstrom

Biography

Karen Engstrom is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations in Phoenix. Ms. Engstrom has testified as an expert witness and specializes in accounting, dispute and forensic analysis, valuation, and litigation services. Her primary areas of concentration are forensic accounting related to financial investigations and disputes, determining damages and preparing expert witness reports for litigation proceedings. With nearly 20 years of dispute and forensic experience, Ms. Engstrom has provided dispute advisory services in commercial litigation and bankruptcy proceedings involving valuation matters, post-acquisition disputes, lost profits, breach of contract disputes, employment discrimination, fraudulent transfers, professional malpractice, and a variety of other commercial damages.  Ms. Engstrom has also provided forensic and investigative services and has conducted various types of compliance audits.  Ms. Engstrom has worked with clients across a wide range of industries, including construction, real estate, healthcare, gaming, government, transportation, professional services, technology, multi-level marketing, financial services and intellectual property. Prior to joining A&M, she served as a director with a publicly-traded litigation consulting firm. Previously, she was with the forensic and dispute practices of both KPMG and Arthur Andersen. Ms. Engstrom earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Arizona. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
