Biography
Kevin Hindley is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand U.K., LLP in London. Mr. Hindley brings over 20 years of experience in corporate and international tax. He works with multinational companies active across the globe but has particular expertise in the U.K., U.S. and European jurisdictions, including both U.K.-inbound and U.K.-outbound work. Mr. Hindley has assisted clients ranging from rapidly growing, privately held companies to businesses in the FTSE 100, across a wide range of industries including technology, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, professional services, hotel, retail, manufacturing and real estate sectors. He has also worked with a number of intermediary professional tax advisory firms, providing specialised input and expert advice from a technical perspective. Mr. Hindley brings considerable tax experience related to all aspects of corporate mergers and acquisitions. He focuses on technical areas such as the substantial shareholdings exemption, the dividend exemption, reorganisation provisions, corporate aspects of stamp duty and stamp duty land tax, controlled foreign companies, double tax relief, interest deductibility, loss relief, research and development tax credits and the patent box. Mr. Hindley also brings extensive experience of negotiations with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs at all levels – from local offices through to the Large Business Service and International Division. He is actively engaged in consultation processes for areas of new U.K. tax law with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. Mr. Hindley has a reputation for a pragmatic approach to dispute resolution in this area and has successfully settled major tax audits on behalf of many clients. Additionally, he brings experience in all areas of tax reporting and compliance for U.K. and international companies, particularly those in the U.S. Prior to joining A&M, Mr Hindley was with Chiltern Plc, the U.K.'s largest independent tax consultancy. Prior to Chiltern, Mr. Hindley spent eight years with the tax groups of Ernst & Young and Deloitte. Mr. Hindley earned a bachelor's degree, with first class honours, in mathematics from Kings College London. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAEW), Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and won the regional prize for his tax paper in the ICAEW exams. He is a U.K. national.​
