Kevin Karl

Biography

Kevin Karl is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Transaction Advisory Group in New York. Mr. Karl specializes in accounting and financial analysis for both buy-side and sell-side transaction matters for private equity firms and strategic buyers. He brings ten years of transaction and audit experience across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, and media/entertainment. Mr. Karl also has specific expertise in generic pharmaceuticals, pharmacy benefit managers and life sciences. Most recently, Mr. Karl has furthered his private equity experience in the Private Equity and Principal Investments Group at the Lehman Brothers estate, which is being restructured under Chapter 11. His primary responsibilities include portfolio management for investments, monitoring performance of the investments, quarterly valuations, evaluating and executing transactions, restructuring of distressed investments, and actively recommending investment alternatives based on risk analysis. His industry focus includes healthcare venture capital investments, industrials and power and utilities. Prior to joining A&M, he was a manager with the assurance and business advisory services practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in New Jersey, where he provided assurance services for multiple SEC registrants, including Sarbanes-Oxley 404 implementation guidance for an SEC registrant with revenues exceeding $35 billion. He was an instrumental member of the pharmaceutical industry practice and performed various consulting roles with Fortune 100 companies including standard costing evaluations, complex gross to net revenue reviews, co-promotion arrangements and industry benchmarking analysis. Additionally, he served in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ sports industry practice leading multiple engagements for the NBA and NFL. Prior to joining PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Karl spent two years in the assurance and advisory services group of Arthur Andersen LLP in New York. His most notable achievement included the planning and preparation of a Form S-1 in conjunction with Medco Health Solutions’ Initial Public Offering, which was a spin-off from Merck and valued at over $10 billion. Mr. Karl earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Fairfield University, where he was a member of the Alpha Sigma Nu Honor Society. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in both New York and New Jersey, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
