Biography
Kurt S. Knipp is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s North American Turnaround and Restructuring practice in Chicago. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Mr. Knipp specializes in operations optimization, turnaround and restructuring, and revenue growth initiatives. In various advisory and C-level leadership roles, he has led strategic initiatives that have resulted in significantly increased shareholder value. In performance improvement leadership roles, he has mentored cross-functional teams to become change agents and implementers of continuous improvement processes. Mr. Knipp has worked across the company lifecycle from start-up / launch to late stage decline and sale / exit. His industry experience includes technology, electronic payments, wholesale / retail distribution, manufacturing, professional services, and financial services. Market segment experience includes education technology, MEP engineering, merchant credit card processing, automotive, plastics, lubricants, green goods, industrial electronics, steel processing, and commercial banking. He has worked internationally in Mexico, Canada, China, and throughout Europe. Key accomplishments include co-leading an initial public offering and being awarded the Turnaround of the Year Award from the Chicago TMA chapter for his role as CRO / CEO of a troubled plastics manufacturing company. Most recently, Mr. Knipp served as interim CFO for a SaaS technology start-up. He previously served as COO of a Chicago-based MEP Engineering firm. Mr. Knipp earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University where he double majored in Computer Science and Finance.​ He has been recognized as a Certified Turnaround Professional by the Turnaround Management Association.​
