Biography
Laurence Beard is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Financial Industry Regulatory Advisory Services in Houston. With nearly 37 years of executive leadership in the financial services industry, he focuses on guiding financial institutions through complex and challenging economic periods.Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Beard served with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, (OCC), the regulator and administrator of the national banking industry, in such leadership roles as Deputy Comptroller for Licensing, and Assistant Deputy Comptroller for the St. Louis field office. As Deputy Comptroller, he managed the overall licensing function in OCC’s Washington D.C. headquarters and its district offices. This included deciding corporate applications for mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, de novo charters and shelf charters for some of the country’s largest banks. As Assistant Deputy Comptroller for OCC, Mr. Beard supervised community and mid-sized banks in the St. Louis, Missouri and Evansville, Indiana areas and led a team of national bank examiners. He has a long tenure of bank regulatory experience that includes working with troubled financial institutions under informal and formal enforcement actions throughout the U.S. as a problem bank analyst.Mr. Beard earned a bachelor’s science degree in business administration, with concentrations in finance and management, from Rockhurst University in Kansas City.
