Biography

Leonardo Coelho, a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Brazil, has a proven track record working with multinational corporations in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Italy and Germany.In the last 16 years, he has secured leading positions with these companies, notably in the telecom, energy and agribusiness sectors. Mr. Coelho served as Chief Financial Officer for both a Siemens transformer unit in Brazil and an agribusiness joint venture (with record revenue of more than R$500 million). He recently assisted the Brazilian agribusiness company Agrenco in starting up its operations and acting as CFO and Director of Investors Relations.He also served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Italian insulator manufacturer SEVES in Brazil and was a board member for SEVES SpA in Italy, a company with revenues on of EUR400 million. Previously, Mr. Coelho was the CEO for a Brazilian holding company, with businesses in both retail (sales of R$700 million, with 50 stores, more than 10.000 SKUs and 2,700 employees), and financing (sales of R$1.5 billion, with 45 branches and 1,000 employees), leading efforts to improve cash generation and reduce debt. He also coordinated a retail company turnaround, designing a new product mix and store footprint, as well as releasing structured operations to decrease net debt. Using his deep experience in finance, he has worked in industrial restructuring in Brazil for the last four years. During that time, Mr. Coelho redesigned processes, implemented new managing tools, rebuilt cost accountancy systems and renegotiated liabilities. As part of these restructuring efforts, he was also responsible for procurement, strategic planning, IT and facility management.Mr. Coelho earned an MBA in advanced management from ESADE (Barcelona).
