Martin Mckay

Biography

Martin McKay is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Transaction Advisory Group in London. He brings more than 13 years of experience in providing financial advisory and due diligence services to private equity sponsors and strategic acquirers. Mr. McKay has advised on numerous complex cross-border acquisitions, disposals and refinancings. He brings deep experience assessing key financial and operational business drivers, working capital and funding requirements, synergy and cost savings initiatives and carve-out considerations. He has also advised on numerous sale and purchase agreements and credit agreements. Since joining A&M, Mr. McKay has led due diligence teams on behalf of a number of private equity firms, including The Blackstone Group, Carlyle, Kohlberg, Kravis and Roberts, Montagu Private Equity, Inflexion Private Equity and Sovereign Capital. Before A&M, Mr. McKay was a Senior Director with the private equity transaction services group of Deloitte in London for eight years, where he advised a wide number of private equity sponsors including KKR, Permira, Phoenix Equity, Hg Capital and Bridgepoint Capital. For four years, he served as a core senior member of Deloitte's dedicated team advising KKR on its European acquisitions and disposals. His past experience includes: the acquisition of Tangerine Confectionery by Blackstone; acquisition of ITRS Group by Carlyle; disposal of KKR / Permira controlled TV Broadcaster, SBS Broadcasting Europe BV, to ProSiebenSat1 Media AG; acquisition of Northgate Information Solutions plc by KKR; acquisition of the NXP Semiconductors by a KKR / Silver Lake-led consortium; acquisition of Associated British Ports by a Goldman Sachs-led consortium; acquisition and refinancing(s) of Debenhams plc and the Fitness First Group. Mr. McKay earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Saint Francis Xavier University and is a Chartered Accountant. He is a U.K. and Canadian national.
