Biography

Matt Box is a Managing Director with Alvarez and Marsal Healthcare Industry Group in Washington, D.C. Mr. Box focuses on interim management, restructuring and turnarounds, performance improvement, strategic and financial planning and advisory services. He is a CPA with more than 15 years of experience in various senior financial positions. Mr. Box has extensive experience in multi-state, multi-location healthcare services providers including Skilled Nursing / Senior Housing, Home Healthcare / Hospice, Physician Practices, Imaging / Radiology and Clinical Research Organizations. He has lead successful restructuring efforts including financial reporting and infrastructure development, revenue cycle management, portfolio rationalization and performance improvement/cost reductions. He has extensive experience in the areas of liquidity management, debt and equity capital restructuring, acquisitions and divestitures, contracting and risk / litigation management. Most recently Mr. Box has served as Chief Restructuring Officer of $800 million home health and hospice provider (non-profit). He has been instrumental in the operational turnaround, including the care delivery model, customer strategy, managed care strategy and implementation of metrics driven operating platform. Mr. Box also has been Chief Financial Officer at a $425 thousand revenue home health and hospice provider with operations in 10 states. He led the complete overhaul of accounting / reporting, finance, treasury, FP&A, tax, purchasing / real estate and revenue cycle functions following post-acquisition integration and relocation of corporate headquarters. He restructured debt obligations and covenants in response to revenue / rate pressures and initiated cost reductions and process improvement to improve operating results and cash flow.Mr. Box has also held the position of Chief Financial Officer at a national radiology and tele-radiology practice management company. He stabilized revenue cycle and liquidity as well as eliminated / restructured underperforming relationships and redesigned critical decision support metrics for new business opportunities and physician compensation. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Box served as Chief Financial Officer of a multi-state SNF / ALF operator with 30 facilities. He led the restructuring and recapitalization, including asset rationalization and disposition as well as the eventual sale of the operations and assets to strategic and financial acquirers.Mr. Box earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Towson University and an accounting degree from the University of Baltimore.
