Biography
Michael Chase, a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations, brings over 30 years of experience on cases involving commercial damages quantification and causation, and major forensic accounting investigations. He has provided numerous expert reports and testified at deposition in approximately 80 matters. In at least 25 matters, he has been recognized as an expert witness at trials pending in state and federal courts and arbitration panels. He is regularly retained to evaluate issues such as lost profits, price erosion, unjust enrichment and reasonable royalty damages.Mr. Chase is a leader of A&M’s intellectual property group and has deep experience in damages analysis involving patent, trademark, copyright, antitrust, breach of contract, trade secret, tortious interference, unjust enrichment cases. He also has significant experience in other commercial litigation damages studies in matters such as breach of contract, minority shareholder, business interruption, business valuation issues, construction and government contract claims, other commercial disputes and regulatory investigations and settlements.Before joining A&M, Mr. Chase was a managing director with Navigant Consulting, where he had a similar practice. Previously, he was with Tucker Alan Inc., Epps Antonishen & Walworth P.C. and Peterson Consulting.Mr. Chase graduated with highest distinction in 1984 from Indiana University, with a B.S. in business. He is a Certified Public Accountant, registered in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois, is Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the AICPA. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Michigan Association of CPAs.
