Michael Gacek

Biography

Michael Gacek is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Private Equity Services Group in Chicago. With more than seven years of mergers and acquisitions experience, he specializes in providing buy-side financial due diligence services to private equity and strategic investors. He has experience across a wide range of industries, including general manufacturing and distribution, waste management, automotive, telecom, and consumer and business services. In addition to his domestic transaction experience, he has been involved with transactions for U.S.-based private equity and strategic buyers spanning across Canada, Europe and Mexico. Mr. Gacek has led or participated in more than 100 transactions and focuses on determining acquisition targets' quality of earnings and working capital requirements through analysis of financial statements and discussions with key management. He ensures that acquisition and financing agreements reflect the proper deal structure and coincide with financial due diligence findings. He has also completed various carve-out and stand-alone statements for strategic buyers selling their operating segments. Most recently, he completed due diligence on four add-on acquisitions for a private equity sponsor in the waste industry. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Gacek was a Senior Manager of transaction services with Deloitte & Touche, where he led financial due diligence projects for private equity and strategic investors. Previously, he was with the audit practices of both Deloitte & Touche and Arthur Andersen in Chicago, where he performed audit engagements for both public and private companies. Mr. Gacek earned a bachelor's of science degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Illinois. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Illinois CPA Society and the University of Illinois Alumni Club of Chicago.
