Mike Hall

Biography

Mike Hall is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Performance Improvement in San Francisco. Mr. Hall specializes in performance improvement within the IT, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and Accounting functions. His experience is concentrated in program and project management, strategy, metrics development and deployment, governance, IT service management, strategic sourcing, cost take-out, financial planning and forecasting. He typically serves in interim management roles for clients to drive substantial organizational, operational and financial change. He has consulted public, private, non-profit, and private equity portfolio companies in a variety of industries including high tech, education, retail, hospitality, public utilities, upstream and downstream oil and gas, aluminum and electronics manufacturing, healthcare, engineering and construction. Previously, he co-led the technology office for a coalition of four Los Angeles-based Charter Management Organizations (CMOs), program-managing the design and implementation of over 18 teacher effectiveness systems across the four  CMOs by managing a dozen vendor implementation teams. In this role, he co-led the development of the technology vision, implementation strategy, product roadmap, technology governance model, and project / program management processes. He managed the technology budget, co-led the vendor selection process, negotiated the vendor contracts and drove the implementation efforts. Additionally, he led the IT organizational re-design and skills development for the CMOs. He also performed an operational diagnostic and process improvement work for one of the largest CMOs in the charter network. This work included a Lean Six Sigma performance improvement effort for new teacher onboarding that resulted in reducing the teacher onboarding process from 28 days to 12 days. Additionally, he served as an interim Account Manager for a non-profit educational technology start-up that developed a portfolio of technologies and services to better connect the various systems in use by schools. Also, Mr. Hall served in an interim management capacity standing up the IT Service Management (ITSM) coach role during an ITSM implementation for a Fortune 500 high tech company based in Silicon Valley. In addition, Mr. Hall led engagements with a $7B retail company, a $2B independent exploration and production company, a $800M resort company and a $300M private equity owned manufacturer of marine electronics with their enterprise-wide strategic sourcing efforts. In these roles, he managed the end-to-end category transformation and strategic sourcing processes across many direct and indirect categories. Previously, he supported the development of an IT cost take-out for a major utility company. His responsibilities included developing the prioritization process utilizing Lean concepts, associated tools, and models that generated the recommended plan for the IT cost take-out roadmap targeting $100M in reductions. Additionally, he developed and managed the financial tracking tool for the initiatives. On another project for the same utility company, he assisted in the development of the data architecture behind an IT executive balanced scorecard dashboard. Mr. Hall earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with a minor in business from Texas A&M University
