Biography
Nicola Barbini is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s European Transaction Advisory Group in London. Mr. Barbini specializes in providing sell-side and buy-side financial due diligence, independent business reviews and transaction advisory services to private equity and corporate clients in relation to acquisitions, disposals and re-financings. With more than 15 years of transaction services and investment banking experience, Mr. Barbini has significant expertise in cross-border M&A transactions, both in terms of providing due diligence and in negotiating and arranging financing. He has worked with clients across various industries, including retail and consumer, healthcare, business services, industrials and TMT.Most recently, Mr. Barbini advised Paine & Partners on the acquisition of Suba Seeds in Italy; Stirling Square on the acquisition of NFA; Terra Firma on the proposed acquisition of a leading UK health clubs business; Apposite on the disposal of By the Bridge; Catterton on the acquisition of Sweaty Beatty and proposed acquisition of a leading pet food business in Europe; Platinum on the acquisition (and refinancing) of Exterion Media and proposed acquisition of a leading brick manufacturer as well as a glass packaging business in the UK. Before joining A&M, he served at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in London, executing debt financing for LBO transactions backed by private equity sponsors. His financings included the acquisition of Bodycote Materials Testing by CD&R, Coor Service Management by Cinven and SafetyKleen by Warburg Pincus. While at RBS, he was involved in developing the U.K. Government’s Asset Protection Scheme, valuing the bank’s leveraged loan portfolio under different distress scenarios.Mr. Barbini earned a Master's degree in Business Administration with honors from the University of Ancona in Italy. Mr. Barbini has performed the operational restructuring of a leading POP manufacturer and shopper marketing agency with a focus on fixing several pricing/costing issues, and the operational review of a pan-European provider of healthcare services (including diagnostics), identifying cost savings opportunities and advising on initiatives to improve management information.Mr. Barbini earned a Master's degree in Business Administration with honors from the University of Ancona in Italy.
