Nikki Coles

Biography

Nikki Coles is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes & Investigations practice in London. She is an experienced forensic accountant, with over 16 years of accounting experience, of which 13 is in dispute resolution matters and financial investigations.Ms. Coles has extensive experience in expert witness engagements, covering valuations, loss of profits, breach of contract, and sale and purchase disputes, and has also been involved in many accounting and regulatory investigations. In 2008/2009, Ms. Coles undertook a 12-month secondment to the Financial Services Authority, where she was involved in Enforcement policy work.Ms. Coles has been involved in a diverse range of dispute resolution matters across various industries. Most recently at A&M, Ms. Coles has been assisting investors in connection with an ICSID claim against an Eastern European state for failure to adequately protect the Claimants’ investment.  She has also acted for a private equity partnership in connection with a claim made by a former partner. Further examples of her experience include: (i) the valuation of a communications company in connection with a UK High Court dispute brought under the sale and purchase agreement; (ii) lost profits claim in connection with a UK High Court action as a result of the misuse of the trade secrets of a company engaged in the chemical industry. Ms. Coles has acted on a wide range of financial investigations across multiple jurisdictions, including in relation to: (i) fraud; (ii) suspected financial statement manipulation; (iii) asset tracing; and (iv) alleged trustee and auditor negligence.  In addition, Ms. Coles has conducted operational reviews in connection with investigations by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and US Department of Justice into alleged breaches of the FCPA. Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Coles worked with AlixPartners UK LLP and Deloitte LLP. Ms. Coles earned a bachelor’s degree in Law from King’s College London.  She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Ms. Coles is a UK national.
