Biography

Richard Avant, a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Performance Improvement, is an experienced consultant serving the oil and gas industry. With a career that spans almost 30 years, he has advised integrated majors, exploration and production companies, refiners and oilfield service companies. He has also worked with numerous manufacturing, process and consumer business companies.Mr. Avant has recently been involved in numerous oil and gas transactions, including start-ups, carve-outs and mergers – many with private equity firms. Services provided include operational due diligence, IPO readiness and Day 1 and Day 100 planning and implementation for both back-office functions and plant / field operations. He assisted several companies through business process transformation initiatives that were implemented enterprise-wide, as well as for individual processes. Although his focus has been on redesigning and implementing new processes, initiatives typically include technology and change management.During his career, Mr. Avant has led numerous initiatives to assess, design and implement end-to-end supply chain processes.Before joining A&M, he was a Principal with a Big Four firm, holding numerous leadership positions in supply chain and manufacturing.Mr. Avant graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Rice University and earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Texas. He is certified in production and inventory management (CPIM), as well as integrated resource management (CIRM).He is a current board member of The John Cooper School and the Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Association of Greater Houston.
