Biography
Bob Corso is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Valuation Services in New York. With more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, he leads A&M’s financial services industry valuation practice. His clients have included financial institutions, specialty finance companies, alternative asset managers and institutional investors.Mr. Corso has provided portfolio advisory services for financial services industry clients. He led A&M’s extensive liquidation valuation analysis of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for an alternative asset manager. He led the successful sale of a $1 billion distressed leverage loan portfolio by a $50 billion plus bank holding company, including deal structure and modeling. He was also the liquidating trustee of a $300 million co-investment fund.He provides portfolio valuation services. Mr. Corso leads our engagement with a large private equity fund which has outsourced its portfolio valuation process to A&M. These portfolios include investments in common stock, preferred stock, convertible preferred stock, convertible debt and warrants of large cap, mid cap and venture companies. He has also led valuations of loan portfolios of banks and credit funds.Mr. Corso has extensive mergers and acquisitions and SEC experience. He has advised clients on SEC inquiries regarding valuation matters, including the development of the valuation process and policy, Mr., Corso has extensive experience with tax receivable agreements (TRAs), including the valuation thereof for tax and financial reporting purposes. He has performed pre-deal valuation diligence on the merger of two multi-billion dollar banks. He also valued the assets and liabilities acquired by banks and other financial services companies, including loan portfolios, nonperforming loans, investments, time deposits and core deposit intangible.He also performs transaction opinion and litigation and disputes services. He has been retained in high profile litigation, SEC investigations and commercial disputes for companies in the financial services industry. His A&M team provided a solvency opinion to the board of directors of a mortgage company regarding a planned divestiture. They also issued a board advisory report on the valuation of a Czeck bank in connection with a planned capital raise.Before A&M, Mr. Corso was with Houlihan Lokey and a partner at Arthur Andersen, focusing on financial services. Mr. Corso earned a bachelor’s degree, graduating cum laude, in business and accounting from Fairfield University. He was registered with FINRA as a General Securities Representative (Series 7). He is a CPA, licensed in New York, and a member of the AICPA and NYSSCPA.
