Rodrigo Mattos

Biography

Rodrigo Osegueda Mattos is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal Brazil. He has more than 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), financing projects, restructuring, renegotiations and contract disputes, as well as providing support for the implementation of infrastructure projects, particularly in regulated industries. Before joining A&M, Mr. Mattos was a partner with first-tier law firms in Brazil. Most recently, he was a Deputy General Counsel for OSX Brasil S.A., in charge of coordinating and negotiating several finance facilities and contracts, infrastructure construction contracts, and contracts for the supply of offshore oil and gas platforms (EPCs and EPCIs). Mr. Mattos also led the legal strategy for OSX Brazil's restructuring, including a number of contract and finance renegotiations. Mr. Mattos also participated in high-profile projects in Brazil, such as the negotiations and disputes over the corporate control of Brasil Telecom, the most important corporate dispute and takeover case to date in Brazil, in addition to participating in some of the first restructuring cases under the relatively new legal framework (e.g., Casa & Vídeo). Mr. Mattos has also led negotiation efforts and arbitration proceedings in infrastructure projects, in addition to several M&A processes for private equity funds. Mr. Mattos previously served as partner of Brasil Pereira Neto Galdino e Macedo and Mundie e Advogados, senior associate with Vieira Rezende Barbosa e Guerreiro, and international summer associate with Robinson, Silverman, Aronsohn and Berman (now Brian Cave) in New York. Mr. Mattos earned a bachelor’s degree in law from the Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro, PUC-Rio and a master’s degree in law (LL.M in government procurement law) from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. He is fluent in Portuguese, English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of French.
