Biography
Roger Bayly jointly leads Alvarez & Marsal’s Corporate Performance Improvement team in Europe, providing performance diagnostic and improvement services to leading companies.Mr. Bayly brings 18 years of experience working with companies to deliver turnarounds, business transformations and operational restructuring programmes. He has worked with clients across a range of industry sectors including automotive, industrial, aerospace and defence, airlines, oil and gas, consumer and many others.Prior to joining A&M, Mr Bayly spent 14 years with KPMG’s restructuring practice, 11 as a Partner, where he chaired KPMG’s turnaround teams globally and served on the leadership team of KPMG’s advisory business. He was a founding member of KPMG’s turnaround team and built their Cash and Working Capital advisory business from scratch. Mr. Bayly has worked alongside boards and management teams on business critical situations leading major engagements including the comprehensive turnaround of a global premium automaker, the stabilization of a global oil and gas business facing a major crisis, the transformation of an international aerospace and defence manufacturer with declining profitability, and crisis cash stabilization in a major U.K. retailer and a European airline. Mr. Bayly also has also supported the turnaround of an international communications and IT service provider, post-deal performance improvement and working capital release in PE-backed media and services business, working capital release in a global telecoms company, as well as the operational restructuring reviews of consumer and industrial products manufacturers.Mr. Bayly earned a master’s degree in Engineering from Cambridge University and started his career as an apprentice at Jaguar Cars before spending 10 years in the automotive industry in a variety of engineering and operational roles. In 2011, he was named Turnaround Practitioner of the Year at Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards (previously known as the Insolvency and Rescue Awards).
