Sean Farnan

Biography

Sean Farnan is the Chief Operating and Financial Officer for Alvarez & Marsal's Global Transaction Advisory Group. He has been involved in professional services operations for nearly 10 years in addition to accumulating more than a decade of client service with public accounting and consulting firms. He oversees the day-to-day financial management and operations of A&M's Transaction Advisory Group practices in the U.S., Europe, India, Asia and Latin America. Additionally, he serves on the Transaction Advisory Group Executive Committees in the U.S. and Europe. Prior to assuming the operations and practice management role, Mr. Farnan specialized in accounting due diligence and financial analysis for buy-side, sell-side and post-transaction engagements. He has experience across a wide range of industries, including general manufacturing and distribution, healthcare services, sports equipment manufacturing and distribution, remanufacturing and business services. With more than 10 years of transaction experience, Mr. Farnan advised on numerous due diligence and recapitalization assignments in both troubled and non-troubled situations. Some of his advisory assignments include: leading financial due diligence assignments related to a beverage logistics target, a carve-out of a tier one automotive supplier facility, an internet retailer, a healthcare billing services target, a multi-segment sports equipment direct marketer and retailer, a marketing services company and a temporary labor agency roll-up. He has also participated in commercial due diligence assignments. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Farnan spent nine years with the transaction support groups of Big Four accounting firms in Chicago, Atlanta and New York. He also was a Senior Financial Analyst with the corporate development group of a publicly traded advertising agency holding company. Mr. Farnan earned an Executive MBA (magna cum laude) and a bachelor's degree in accounting, with a concentration in international business, from the University of Notre Dame. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed in the state of Illinois.​
