Stephen Jackson

Biography

Steve Jackson is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Valuation Services in Houston, specializing in fair value of financial instruments and financial reporting related to derivative and hedge accounting. Mr. Jackson’s primary responsibility is to develop and maintain the web-based software utilized to deliver valuation outsourcing services. With more than 20 years of experience in the energy industry, Mr. Jackson has held various roles within the mid-office energy trading at Enron North America, American Electric Power and BP. He was responsible for various commodities such as gas, power, coal and NGLs. He directed and managed activities from trade capture to daily P&L and position reporting. Mr. Jackson is also experienced with commodity structuring and has coordinated the front- / mid-office processes with back-office groups (accounting, settlements, credit, legal and auditing). Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Jackson spent five years combined with ValSource Advisory Services, Inc. and Sirius Solutions, where he served as Director. His consulting experience included developing market-based models in support of SFAS 133 (ASC 815) hedge accounting programs and SFAS 157 (ASC 820) fair value measurements. The models encompassed valuation of forwards, swaps, options for interest rates, foreign exchange, and energy commodities such as natural gas, crude oil, NGLs, heating oil, diesel and coal. Mr. Jackson also developed forward curve extrapolation methodologies and regression analysis for clients. Mr. Jackson earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Tech University.
