William Gibson

Biography

Bill Gibson is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Performance Improvement. He has over 30 years of leadership experience as a senior global information technology (IT) executive and as the Chief Information Officer of a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Gibson creates global solutions and technology strategies that deliver business capabilities. He has successfully led the transformation from regional, autonomous organizations to global teams, and has managed IT assessment and strategic planning at A&M and in previous roles. At A&M, Mr. Gibson served as the program lead for a complex, cross-functional, big bet initiative at a large utilities client to move to a single platform and process, resulting in $10 million of yearly savings in labor. He also led the development of an IT assessment and roadmap across technology and organization for a midsized beverage and food client, creating a blueprint for IT to support aggressive growth. Previously at Levi Strauss and Company, Mr. Gibson led the development of enterprise IT strategic plans inclusive of comprehensive system solutions, supporting roadmaps and architecture, financials and organization designed to drive shareholder returns. With the technology roadmap as a foundation, he worked side by side with business stakeholders to form value creation business initiatives through the prioritization and management of a global governance process. Mr. Gibson also designed and launched global IT organizations across the America’s, Europe and Asia, consolidating and reassigning teams to realize higher value activity, while shedding routine work to sourcing partners. He transformed the IT function from a highly decentralized regional organization to a global organization. He also led cost reduction initiatives to drive value for investment back in the company, including a 7.5 percent reduction in base service costs year over year, while maintaining an investment pool for new services and solutions. Additionally, Mr. Gibson’s executive oversight of large, successful multi-year initiatives included global SAP implementations in Mexico, Brazil, Asia-Pacific and Europe; a cloud-based solution in Brazil; a new distribution center in Mexico; and the execution of a product lifecycle management strategy. He led a VMI initiative that added two to eight percent sales growth and an average improvement of five percent for in stock, as well as an 80 retail store outlet buyback resulting in double digit growth. His infrastructure experience included leading a data center co-location with no service interruptions, migration to a Service Now Cloud solution, and initiation of a service-based process and video hosting service. Mr. Gibson earned an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and bachelor’s degree in economics from Allegheny College.
