Biography
Mr. Anthony C. Hooper, also known as Tony, has been an Executive Vice President of Global Commercial Operations at Amgen Inc. since October 2011. Mr. Hooper is responsible for Amgen's Global Commercial Operations. He served as President of US, Japan and Intercontinental and Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company until October 2011. Mr. Hooper served as the President of Americas of Bristol-Myers Squibb Company since March 3, 2009. He led Bristol-Myers' pharmaceutical businesses in the U.S., Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Canada, Japan and several countries in the Pacific Rim. Mr. Hooper serves as a Member of Management Council of Bristol-Myers Squibb. He serves as an Advisor to Mended Hearts, Inc. He started his career in law as a State Prosecutor specializing in company and criminal law. Mr. Hooper served as the President of US Pharmaceuticals of Worldwide Medicines Group of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., from 2004 to March 3, 2009. Mr. Hooper was responsible for the Primary Care, Neuroscience, Oncology and Virology businesses in the US at Bristol-Myers Squibb. He served as a Vice President and General Manager of Northern Europe of International Medicines of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., from 1999 to 2000. He served as the President of Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Southern Africa of International Medicines of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., from 2000 to 2001. Mr. Hooper served as the President of Intercontinental of International Medicines of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., from 2001 to 2002. He served as the President of Europe, ME & Africa of Worldwide Medicines Group of Bristol-Myers Squibb from 2002 to 2004. He joined Bristol-Myers Squibb in 1996 as General Manager of BMS Australia/New Zealand and served as its Managing Director of United Kingdom and Ireland. Prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, Mr. Hooper served as an Assistant Vice President of Marketing of Wyeth Laboratories International. He also worked for Lederle International in New Jersey, Lederle Laboratories in South Africa and South African Cyanamid Pty. Ltd. He served as a Director at Capital Health System, Inc. since May 2010. He is the Chairman for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention 2010 Life Savers Dinner. Since 2009, Mr. Hooper was the Chairman of the board for the National Pharmaceutical Council. He is a Board Member of the National Pharmaceutical Council. Mr. Hooper serves on the executive boards of the American Heart Association (AHA) of Mercer County, the Health Institute of New Jersey, American Institute of Stuttering and Impact Young Lives Foundation. He is an active Member in a number of nonprofit associations. In 2008, he was honored, as a co-recipient of the American Institute of Stuttering's "2008 Freeing Voices, Changing Lives" Award. Mr. Hooper received his MBA in Business Administration and a Bachelors degree in Law from the University of South Africa.
