Biography

Dr. Andrzej Sankowski, M.D., PhD is one of the most renowned plastic surgeons in Poland. He has been a medical professional for over 40 years and his career as a plastic surgeon started over 30 years ago. In 1963 he graduated from the Medical University of Warsaw receiving a degree of medical doctor. As the Polish Academy of Sciences scholar he was developing his knowledge in the field of immunology in Prague, under the supervision of Professor M. Hasek, a Nobel prize candidate. In the years 1969-1979 he was expanding his professional experience in the II Klinika Chirurgiczna (Surgical Clinic) of the Medical University of Warsaw, working under the supervision of Professor ŁapiÅ„ski. In 1973 he sat the specialization exam and obtained a specialist degree in general surgery. The same year he was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (Medicine) degree and his dissertation was the first doctoral thesis in Poland exploring the subject of tissue immunology. In 1976, having passed the exam in the Warsaw branch of CMKP (M.D.s' examination center) he received the second degree of specialization in general surgery, and in 1979 he obtained the second degree of specialization in plastic surgery. From 1979 to 2003 he performed surgical operations at the Klinika Chirurgii Ogólnej i Chorób Klatki Piersiowej (The Clinic of General Surgery and Thoracic Diseases) of the Medical University of Warsaw. When martial law was introduced to Poland he was interned and currently has victim status. In the years 1998-2002 together with other co-owners and co-founders (including Professor Religa, Professor RużyÅ‚Å‚o, Assistant Professor DÄ…browski) he managed the Centrum Kardiologii i Chirurgii Plastycznej (Center of Cardiology and Plastic Surgery) Aqvilion S.A. Warsaw - a company, whose aim was to introduce the most technologically advanced methods of medical treatment and care in Poland. Since 1981 Dr. Sankowski has been the head of his own ward of plastic surgery. As part of his private medical practice he has hosted numerous group as well as individual trainings for doctors, who wished to improve their qualifications and skills in plastic aesthetic surgery and the use of CO2 laser. In the years 1993-1996 he was the vice spokesman for the National Screener of Medical Chambers in Poland. At present, Dr. Sankowski hosts regular trainings for beauticians on current trends in aesthetic surgery and as one of the hosts organizes cyclical meetings for Polish plastic surgeons. Moreover, he consults other Medical University's clinics (including laryngology and neurosurgery wards). He is a member of the Regional Medical Chamber in Warsaw and most of the headline Polish as well as international scientific associations International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (IPRAS) and European Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (ESPRAS). He also belongs to the Section of Hand Surgery and the European Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (EACS).

Research Interest

Dr. Sankowski specialises in plastic surgery. The most common procedures carried out by the doctor are plastic operations on breasts such as augmentation, lift as well as reduction of the overgrown glands. He also performs operations of patient's own adipose tissue transplantation, corrects innate and acquired deformations of nose and ears. Dr. Sankowski carries out abdominoplasty, as well as eyelid lifts and he peforms comprehensive rejuvenation of patients’ skin by injecting Botox or hyaluronic acid products. He fills all the furrows and wrinkles with these products and shapes a new contour of the patient's face. The specialist also uses hyaluronic acid for lips augmentation and contouring.
