Biography
Andrzej Lekstan, MD, PhD, has a specialization in general surgery which he completed in 2011. A year later he received the academic title of Doctor of Medicine based on his dissertation entitled „Comparison of activity and concentrations of metalloproteinases 2 and 9 and their TIMP inhibitors in pancreatic adenocarcinoma and chronic pancreatitis”. He defended his thesis at the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. Since 2003 he has been working as an assistant, and since 2011 he has been a senior assistant of general surgery at the Department and Clinic of Gastrointestinal Surgery of the Medical University of Silesia.
Research Interest
He is an author of numerous publications and he belongs to a scientific medical association. Currently he specialized in vascular surgery, deepening his knowledge in this field under the supervision of Professor Cierpka in the Department and Clinic of General, Vascular and Transplantological Surgery of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. Among a wide range of professional interests of Doctor Lekstan there are also issues regarding vascular diseases (especially venous diseases), gastrointestinal tract diseases, especially regarding pancreas. Apart from this, he commits a lot of attention to the subject of breast diseases and vascular diseases subject to surgical procedures and problems of patients with malnutrition.
