Biography
Professor dr hab. Edward Stanowski is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine of the Military Medical Academy in Åódź. He specializes in general and oncological surgery. In 1972 he became doctor of medical sciences, while habilitated in 1984. Nine years later he received the title of Professor from the President of the Republic of Poland. He has been working at the Department of Surgery of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of the Interior in Warsaw (from 1961 to the present). He is one of the pioneers of laparoscopic surgery in Poland and the author of many publications related to this field of medicine. Professor Stanowski was repeatedly appreciated for the whole of his work. In 2003 he was awarded the Honorary Member of the Society of Polish Surgeons, in 2005 he became Honorary Member of the Society of Czech Surgeons and in 2008 - Honorary Member of the Polish Society of Surgical Oncology. Besides, it belongs to numerous national and foreign scientific societies. He is a member of The Board of the European Society of Endoscopic Surgery (EAES), the Society of Polish Surgeons and the Commission for Transfusion and Hematology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is also an honorary member of the Scientific Council for Medicine and Pharmacy at the Chief of Staff of the General Staff of the Polish Army and of the General Board of Endoscopic Surgery of the Society of Polish Surgeons.
Research Interest
Professor Edward Stanowski is an outstanding specialist in general and oncological surgery. His interests are mainly connected with gastroenterological, endocrine and especially laparoscopic surgery, which became known in Poland. Diagnoses and treats oncology oncologically. Carries out breast, thyroid and laparoscopic surgery to remove gall bladder. Helps patients suffering from obesity by putting on their stomachs. The professor is a supporter of minimally invasive procedures.
