Biography

 Dr. Louis Chan is the Director of Hong Kong Reproductive Medicine Centre. Dr. Louis Chan graduated from the University of Sydney medical school. Dr Chan became Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2004. Dr Chan also awarded FRCOG (UK) and Master of Reproductive Medicine (UNSW).   Qualifications   Master of Reproductive Medicine (UNSW) Master of Public Health (CUHK) Master of Medical Sciences (HKU) Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (University of Sydney) Fellow of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) Fellow of Hong Kong College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FHKCOG) Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) Dr. Chan published more than 60 papers in cited journals, the areas of publication are as follows:   Use of diabetic drugs Rosiglitazone to resume ovulation in Chinese patients with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome; Effects of different drugs (including Ginsenoside Rb1, Rc, and Re, Hypericin, Rosiglitazone, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) on whole rat embryo development and morphology score; Embrytoxicity of hydrosalpingax fluid; Expression of divalent metal transporter 1 (DMT1) isoforms in first trimester human placenta and embryonic tissues; Mechanism of Diclofenac induced embryo-toxicity through free oxygen radicals; Placental transfer of various drugs (Rosiglitazone, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs ) in first trimester of human pregnancy Treatment of endometrioma by transvaginal aspiration; Thyroid dysfunction and pregnancy outcomes; Attitude of Chinese patients towards egg and sperm donation; Use of Chinese medicine in patients with previous miscarriages and infertility; and Perinatal stem cells. Dr. Chan also written 2 book chapters, one of them entitle 'Newborn Stem Cells: Identity, Function, and Clinical Potential, in Perinatal Stem Cells.
