Biography
Graduated at Sao Paulo Medical School , University of Sao Paulo, in 1987, completed his residency training in Neurosurgery at Hospital das Clinicals, Sao Paulo University. Completed his fellowship in Spine Surgery, Skull Base Surgery and Peripheral Nerve Surgery in Nordstadt Krankenhaus, Hannover Germany, with Stipend of DAAD, from 1992 to 1994 under guidance of Professor Majid Samii. From 1994 to 1998 did his PhD in Neuropathology at University of Sao Paulo. From 2007 December to March 2008 did a post doc Fellow in Pituitary Surgery at Stanford Pituitary Centre, Stanford University under Professor Edward Laws. In 2006, June, presented the Thesis of "Privat Dozenth" at University of Sao Paulo, Department of Neurology. From 2003 to 2012 worked as Professor of Post-Graduation at Department of Neurology at Sao Paulo Medical school and after 2009 till 2014, March in Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul .From 2002 to 2008 worked as coordinator of outpatients in Division of Neurosurgery at hospital das Clinicals of Sao Paulo Medical school and coordinator of Brain Tumour Group .Published 90 papers (majority in English)indexed in PubMed and almost 200 papers in Brazil. Published 103 chapters of Book in neurosurgery, and edited 8 books. Mentor of 9 PhD thesis. In 2010, he got the title Forth Dean H Echols Lecture in Neuroscience at Tulane University, New Orleans, USA with the topic Meningiomas from molecular biology to complex approaches. Elected President of Brazilian Academy of Neurosurgery and current President of Brazilian Chapter of Walter Dandy Neurosurgical Society. He coordinated the Skull Base Group at Hospital de Transplants Euclydes de Jesus Zebrine ( from 2009 to 2013 August), and now the Neurosurgery at Hospital Santa Paula, São Paulo. Since 2010 he is advisor neurosurgeon for residents in neurosurgery of Department of Neurosurgery at Irmandade Santa Casa - Londrina, Paraná. Approved for Professor of Neurosurgery at State University of Londrina.
