Biography
I am a Behavioural Ecologist with interests in animal communication and sexual selection. I work mostly on the functional design of animal acoustic and visual signals, the evolution of sexual ornamentation, and how sexual traits influence ecology and speciation. I use data from natural populations, behavioural experiments, and comparative studies. A major ongoing project looks at how colour ornamentation and personality affect the non-breeding social structure of gregarious animals and, in turn, how this social structure influences pair formation and sexual selection.
