Biography
"Biology degree by the University of the Azores, in 1998 with a final thesis on taxonomy, biology an ecology of the order Ceramiales (Rhodophyta) in the Azores. Developed research on taxonomy and culture studies of brown algae until 1998, as a research assistant grant student in the University of the Azores and teaching for undergraduate school students from 1998 to 2000. Masters degree in Phylosophy by the University of Portsmouth in 2001, with a final thesis entitled ""Studies on the families Lithodermataceae, Nemodermataceae, Punctariaceae and Scytosiphonaceae (Phaeophyta) in the Azores"". PhD at the University of Portsmouth on taxonomy, life histories and phylogeny of brown algae. Currently on the fifth year as a postdoc studying the seaweed flora of Portugal emphasizing the Azores and using a DNA barcode approach. Working also in the phylogeography, and phylogeny of target groups."
