Biography
Tiago Múrias (PhD) is a senior researcher at GEPE, in CIBIO-InBIO (2005-present), where he currently supervises monitoring studies and participates in the consultancy role that CIBIO-InBIO plays for several public and private companies, namely REFER (since 2007) and EDP (since 2009). After completing the PhD (1994-1998) and a Pos-Doc (1999-2011) at the University of Coimbra, he moved to CIBIO-InBIO/UP to complete another pos-doc (1999-2003) before he joined GEPE. He was also an Auxiliar Professor (Invited) at the Porto Catholic University (2004-2006).Through his connection to CIBIO-InBIO, he has participated in several Portuguese and European research projects (as a team member).
Research Interest
His current research interests are on applied conservation biology of fauna, particularly waterbirds, on the use of modelling techniques applied to conservation, habitat creation and restoration and the development of conceptual guidelines for experimental designs and data analysis in the wildlife monitoring for big engineer works (e.g., railway lines, windfarms, dams).
