Biography
He is graduated from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto in 1970, and he is graduated from the University of Bradford in 1981. Since graduation, he has been a lecturer and researcher in the area of ​​Telecommunications at FEUP. Today he Is retired professor of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. He was the founder of INESC in Porto in 1985, and was responsible for setting up a research program in Broadband Telecommunications, the SIFO Project. He is a member of the board of INESC Porto - Institute of Systems and Computers Engineering of Porto, since its creation as an autonomous entity in 1998 until 2009.His resume the position of member of the board of INESC Porto between mid-2014 and 2015.
Research Interest
His research activity was developed mainly within the scope of INESC in Porto, where, since its foundation, he had led scientific activities with a particular focus on the area of ​​digital television, having been an active element in national and international projects, especially projects with the BBC and RTP.
