Biography
Kevin E. Lofton joined Gilead’s Board in July 2009. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Health Initiatives. Headquartered in Denver, the healthcare system has revenues of over $16 billion and operates the full continuum of services from hospitals to home health agencies throughout the nation. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of two university hospitals, the UAB Hospital and Howard University Hospital. In 2007, Mr. Lofton served as Chairman of the Board of the American Hospital Association, the nation’s largest hospital trade association. In May 2016 he received an honorary Doctor of Humanities in Medicine degree from the Baylor College of Medicine. In June 2014 The Healthcare Financial Management Association awarded the Richard L. Clarke Board of Directors Award to Mr. Lofton, in recognition of his extensive and far reaching work in the area of health care disparities and creating healthier communities.
